Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza

We have pizza every Friday night.  I love simple traditions.  And this one is easy to make happen {and it makes meal planning even easier}.

After a few weeks of having pepperoni, ham & pineapple, cheese, aka {“the regular” toppings} we decided that we needed to mix it up!

We decided to create NEW pizza ideas.  Some were copies of other pizzas we’ve had at restaurants, but there have been a few that were unique.  Sometimes they turn out REALLY yummy…like the night we made Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza.

Here’s how we made it:

  • Pizza Dough {you can make your own or buy it premade}
  • 4-6 Swiss Cheese Slices, thinly sliced
  • 3-4 Slices of Deli Ham, roughly chopped
  • 1 Cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Chicken Breast, cooked and diced
  • 3/4 Cup Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley
  • Sauce Ingredients
    • 2 Tbsp. Butter
    • 2 Tbsp. Flour
    • 1 1/2 Cups Whole Milk
    • 1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice
    • 1/2 Tbsp. Dijon Mustard
    • 1/2 tsp. Salt
    • 1/4 tsp. Paprika
    • 1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder
    • 1/4 tsp. Onion Powder
    • Dash of Pepper

Make/prepare your dough.

Cook the sauce by melting the butter over medium heat.  Add in flour and whisk until combined.  Once the mixture is smooth and bubbly slowly add in the milk while whisking constantly.  Continue whisking until sauce begins to thicken.  Then add in the remaining ingredients.  Whisk to combine and then taste.  Add any other ingredients that you feel need to be more pronounced. Bring sauce to a low boil and then remove from heat.

Distribute sauce over pizza dough.  Spread {most of} swiss and mozzarella cheeses over the sauce.  Add the chicken and ham.  Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top of all the ingredients.

Lastly, combine melted butter, panko, and parsley in a bowl. {You may want to add a little salt}  Sprinkle the panko mixture over the pizza.

Bake according to your pizza dough directions.

The next time we make it I will take more pictures and add them.
